Movement as documentation

Documentation of waiting and sadness

Sometimes it might be even better being in the constant waiting of answer. The state of not-knowing. There are always things that sadden or disappoint you.

”Blessed are the forgetful, for they get the better even of their blunders.”

again by my favorite philosopher, I don’t even remember it was from him, this phrase just appeared on my mind.

I have always wonder why my emotions have to be affected by my surroundings. It may be, however, a blessing that I feel so deep even in minor things, for I could have compassion to many and be able to create upon it.

I am a useless artist, but maybe I can do sometime for you.

Documentation of some thoughts during improvisation:

SPACE

The so-call "limitation" of the space leads me to think less about big travel and moves, especially when I am not in my best shape, it has probably been helping me stay focus on other areas. I became less conscious on the variety of movement. The moves become spontaneous and build upon repetition into variation.

MUSIC AND EMOTIONS

The music and lyrics give me inspiration. As I respond to the lyrics in a cognitive sense, my body reacts with different dynamics giving me more stimuli to express my inner thoughts and emotions. Instead of purely blasting out my energy, the music guides me into revealing my emotions through movement.

REPETITION

I was not afraid to repeat my moves in this improvisation, which has makes my moves more connected and sometimes new ideas spring from the rawness. I am happy with the rawness as my current aesthetics. I have been thinking about the purpose of movement recently. Is dance and movement open to all and universal? How do we overcome the fear of being ugly. I wish that this improvisation can serve as an encouragement to my viewers that we can dance anytime anywhere when we feel like without the fear of being judge.

Welcome to share with me your moves :)
